This course introduces Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) and their security challenges. The course provides an overview of IoT and Industrial Control Systems (ICS), ICS cyber attacks and countermeasures, and introduces CPS secure-by-design concepts.
Course Goals:
- Understand the fundamentals of CPS.
- Learn the basics of IoT systems.
- Learn the basics of hardware-based attacks.
- Learn about Industrial Control Systems networks, attacks, and relevant countermeasures.
- Get a basic hands-on experience in attacking cyber-physical systems.
- Be able to apply threat modeling as a secure design instrument for CPS.
Learning Outcomes:
After completing this course, the learner will be able to:
- Identify the main components of a cyber-physical system for critical infrastructure protection.
- Discuss the different security attacks that can be launched against CPS.
- Explain the different types of device/network-based attacks and potential security vulnerabilities that can affect CPS.
- Conduct threat modeling and identify the potential security threats addressing cyber-physical systems.
