This course aims to take us on spellbinding tour of what technology is and explore the environmental and social externalities of technology. Then, we will study existing and emerging technology-enabled initiatives to discuss how to transform the economy toward more democratic and sustainable societies. We will explore various practices and business models for sustainable and inclusive transitions. The course will analyse the environmental and social externalities of new and old/ traditional technologies; critically evaluate and design context-specific policies that involve technology; and help us understand opportunities and threats deriving from the emerging technology-enabled initiatives and practices.
