Today, International Humanitarian Law and Cyber Conflicts is a tragically relevant topic. Not far from our borders, Russia has unleashed a full-scale aggressive war against Ukraine. This war also encompasses a cyber component. IHL endeavors to safeguard war victims, but this is not always effective. Russian forces have already perpetrated a comprehensive spectrum of all conceivable war crimes. Grave breaches of IHL constitute war crimes, and this is what triggers liability. No statute of limitations applies to such offenses.

The proposed course will empower you to discern which actions in war are lawful and which defy the laws of war and can result in criminal liability.

This course is designed for bachelor's level students. The objective of this course is to introduce and analyze the historical evolution, structure, main sources, principles, and norms of international humanitarian law.
