Kursusele registreerimise sätted

The course is designed in such a way that students can obtain general knowledge of the main features of the European criminal law systems and understand the main concepts of the general part of criminal law. Students are introduced to the main rationale, principles, concepts and mechanisms of criminal law related to national and international jurisdiction. Topics critically discussed during class help students orientate themselves in continental and common criminal law systems and enable them to independently solve concrete legal problems relating to the interpretation and application of core substantive law. Additionally, the course facilitates understanding of the institutional, normative and political context and the special nature of national and international crimes in question. Essentially, participation in the course enables students to obtain basic skills related to drafting of legal opinions on practical cases and situations in selected countries drawing on methods applicable to analysis of criminal jurisprudence.
