Dear course participants,
exam results are attached, also posted on the course page. For any feedback, please feel free to step by my office: room SOC-441 either on Thursday 15:00 - 18:00 or Friday 14:00 - 17:00.
Students who would like to improve the result received from the exam, are welcome to submit an essay - please choose one of the three topics listed on the course page - by January 10th.
For students who did not take the exam and are currently working on the essay, the deadline remains November 6th.
In both cases please make sure to submit files in .doc format, via Moodle (links have been activated) and on time: links will be active until 23:55 on indicated days.
Some of you asked about essay's format: TUT has produced comprehensive guidelines for written papers while for an academic essay, most important is to follow a simple structure (introduction, main body presenting the argument, and conclusion) and to include references (either as footnotes or as endnotes). No particular style of referencing is required (e.g. Chicago, APA) but rather a clear indication of external sources consulted by the author. Referencing is taking seriously during evaluation and unreferenced text, if detected by a dedicated software, results in academic penalties, including 'F' for the course. Such procedures have been recently formalised and a special commission has been created. Please refer to the guidelines and procedures published on the Faculty's page.
